The Best of the Best:

Spice Up Your Valentine’s Day

Ah, Valentine’s Day. The only day of the year that PDA and gushy Instagram posts of your significant other are tolerated. Whether you’re in a committed relationship or treating yourself to a romantic dinner for one, we’re here to help make this Valentine’s Day your best one yet. Below is a compilation of ideas of how to celebrate that include both traditional and nontraditional ways to celebrate the holiday dedicated to love.

The Classics

A romantic dinner is an classic way to celebrate, but it’s a classic for a reason. The Aspen area has countless restaurants and venues to turn to when in need of a romantic night out.

Caribou Club

One of our favorites is the Caribou Club that features a countless array of hand-formed pastas and scratch-made breads that will leave you wanting more. There’s also a wine list sure to impress even the most experienced vino connoisseurs.

Pine Creek Cookhouse

If you’re craving wild game or fresh fish, Pine Creek Cookhouse has those to offer and more. Located at the base of the Elk Mountains, the backdrop is enough to lure you in. Beyond that, their ingredients are locally and ethically sourced and their menu reflects the staples of American Alpine Cuisine.

Matsuhisa in Aspen features new-style Japanese cuisine from the renowned Chef Nobu. His classical training in Tokyo combined with his abroad experiences in South America and beyond make for one-of-a-kind dishes and combinations that will melt in your mouth. Talk about decadence!

Conundrum Catering

If you don’t feel like hitting the town, you can hire a personal chef or cater in for the evening. Kick your feet up and relax; you’ll feel the stress of cooking melt away. Conundrum Catering in Aspen offers a wide range of help in the kitchen. They’ve got you covered whether you want an extra set of hands or eyes overseeing your cooking process or if you want a fully catered meal. With over 20 years of experience, they’ll tailor an experience made for you based on preferences and budget.

Matthew Maier

Aspen Private Chef Matthew Maier offers a wide range of services. If you need help making a special sauce to serve with pasta and chicken, let him help. If you want to take a cooking class with your significant other, he can also teach you skills that will leave you feeling more confident in your kitchen. And of course, if you want him to cook a high-end meal for you in your home, he is happy to do that as well. From the wine choice to the last bite of dessert, you won’t soon forget this experience.

The Sentimental

What would an indulgent dinner be without the perfect centerpiece? Flowers are another tried-and-true classic that bring joy no matter the amount of times they are given. Flowers are a great gift on their own, but paired with something else, they’re even better. Think chocolate or a special piece of jewelry your significant other can wear every day. Aspen is overflowing with clothing boutiques and trinket stores where you can find the perfect piece of clothing, jewelry or art to give as a gift.

Carolyn’s Flowers

Carolyn’s Flowers in Aspen will work with you closely to create a breathtaking, one-of-a-kind masterpiece that will set the mood of the evening.

Aspen Branch

Aspen Branch is another reliable option for flowers. They provide the highest quality flower regardless of the kind and their attention to detail is unmatched. Roses are a guaranteed hit but don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and surprise your loved one with something memorable and unique.

The Adventurous

Another way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is to get outdoors! Take advantage of all of the breathtaking scenes Aspen has to offer by snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing or hiking. During these activities, the adrenaline will be pumping and new memories will be made. Don’t forget to take some photos to capture the moment!

Snowmobiling Tours

Get out and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the White River National Forest on a snowmobile tour at T-Lazy-7 Ranch. Choose from a tour of the iconic Maroon Bells, or make a day of it with a lunch tour. Their guides are experts in the area, so they can teach you all about the natural surroundings – and help with the snowmobiles. The rides are easy, safe, and fun!

Cross-Country Skiing

Rent cross-country skis from the Aspen Snowmass Nordic Center and get your heart racing! Rent two pairs for you and your SO, or sign up for a tour or class if you’re newbies. With over 10 trails to choose from in the valley, there are plenty of easy ways to get out in nature together and leave the bustle of city life behind. Bring a picnic and hot chocolate to make a fun day of it!

Overnight Stay

Make a night of your outdoor adventure and book a stay at a luxury hotel! Try The Little Nell or Hotel Jerome, but book sooner than later before rooms sell out! Your loved one will also appreciate a little spa or hot tub time during your stay, and you can always book a couples massage for the perfect final touch.

Do What You Love

Remember, you can’t go wrong celebrating Valentine’s Day with your significant other. Spending quality time with each other is the most important aspect of the day. Take the pressure off and enjoy each other’s company!
